Act II · what it read

The answer was written from about thirty sources.

Veja
in 0 sources
Cariuma
in 0 sources
Your store was in none of them.

Not because the model dislikes you. Because from where it stands, you don't exist.

Act III · why

Three gaps. Every store has at least one.

01
"@type": "Product"
"name": "Wool Runner"
"price": "110"
"material": ∅
"brand": ∅
"audience": ∅

No facts it can parse

Product name and price aren't a category. Material, brand entity, audience, origin, certifications — that's what the question is about, and it's missing from most Shopify product schema.

Fix → Complete JSON-LD Product schema on every PDP
02
grid · not quotable

Nothing it can quote

Collections are grids. Product pages are specs. An AI Overview lifts a paragraph that answers the question directly — and the only one that exists is on a competitor's site.

Fix → One answer page per category, answer in ¶1
03
roundup✕ you
forum✕ you
review✕ you

Nobody it trusts says your name

The model weights sources it already believes: roundups, forums, review sites. If your name only appears on your own domain, you're a claim. Two citations change the prior.

Fix → Earn 2–3 mentions where the model already looks
Act IV · your listings

The AI doesn't browse your store. It reads your listings.

Shoppers are asking an assistant instead of typing into a search box. The assistant answers with specific products, with a price and a link, pulled from listings it can parse and cite. A product it can't read isn't ranked lower. It isn't in the answer at all, and neither is the click, the comparison, or the sale.

One listing, as the model reads it

Six facts decide whether a product can be recommended.

Every one of them already has a home in Shopify. Most stores fill two. The report tells your developer exactly which fields, on which templates, in what order.

Which of your products can actually be recommended?

Flip the switch. The products that join the answer are the ones that became readable, and the competitor that drops out is the one that stopped being the only option.

Hover a greyed product to see why the model can't cite it. It isn't hidden; it's unreadable.

01
The results page is gone

When an AI Overview answers, clicks on everything below it drop by roughly half. Your product page never gets the visit it used to win.

02
Answers are SKUs, not sites

Assistants name specific products with a price. Those cards come from parseable listing data, not from your homepage or your ads.

03
Comparisons decide the sale

“X vs Y”, “best under $120”, “which lasts longest”: the highest-intent questions. Absent there, you lose the buyer before they know you exist.

Now run it on yours.

Questions

Before you run it

Google AI Overviews are the AI-generated answers that now appear above the regular results. They're powered by Gemini, and they answer the shopper's question directly — often naming 2–3 specific brands or stores. If you're not in that answer, the shopper may never scroll down to your link.

We read your public Shopify catalog (/products.json), generate 12 realistic shopping queries from your product types, and send each one to Gemini — the model behind Google's AI Overviews. Then we check whether your store was named in each answer, who was named instead, and whether the model made anything up about you. You see the actual answers.

No. The audit is read-only. We fetch the same public product feed Google can already see and run the queries against Google's Gemini API. Nothing is installed and nothing is written to your store.

SEO tools optimise for the ten blue links. AI Overviews sit above them and write one synthesised answer from ~30 sources — the signals are different: structured product data, answer-format content, comparison pages, citations on sites the model trusts, and an llms.txt manifest. We measure and fix visibility in the answer, not the ranking.

A personalized written report for your store: an executive summary, score breakdown, the exact queries you appeared in and missed (with the AI's answers), competitor share-of-voice, all five fixes ranked by impact with step-by-step instructions your developer can follow, and a 30-day plan. Delivered as a web link and PDF within 48 hours. Thirty days later I re-run the same 12 queries so you can see what moved.

Not today. The report is written so your existing developer or Shopify partner can ship every fix — most take an afternoon. If you don't have anyone, email me and I'll point you at vetted developers who've done this work.

Rolling out. Google is the biggest shopping discovery surface, so that's where we start. As other engines go live they're included in the audit at no extra cost.

No. The only thing for sale today is the one-time $149 audit. Monthly monitoring is on the roadmap; audit customers get first access. If I can't deliver your report, you get a full refund.
